First Session

To Contact us and set up an appointment call the office at 203-334-4600.  We will set up an free session.  At that time we will discuss what brings you and how we may be able to help you.

Cost and Insurance

The suggested donation is $65.00 per session.  Sessions typiclly run 60 minutes. We will not turn anyone down if they truly can’t afford it.  Since this is a religious service we do not accept insurance payents.

Length of Sessions

Spiritual direction sessions usually run about one hour.  This keeps the focus on the relationship with God rather than on problems.  These sessions meet about once every two weeks at the beginning of the relationship and then transitions to once a month and will  continue as long as it is beneficial to  the directee.  Curative or "therapeutic" sessions run 90 minutes in length and can meet more frequently depending upon the need.  Usually in the beginning these may be weekly and may continue like this for some time.  Eventually the frequency naturally drops off as person becomes healthier.

Faith and Goodness of Fit

Because the healing process and spiritual direction both need a working alliance to function properly we want to make sure that our ministry is suited to your need.  It is not for everyone.  Because our therapeutic method is derived from Christian teaching and presumes, in all phases, a desire to know God more deeply and be known by Him is critical.  Our method requires that the person who comes does so without coercion, and that they be genuinely open to faith in Jesus, participation in a local church, and willing to follow the recommendations of the director as pertaining to the health of their soul.

Are you Licensed?

No, I am not a licensed psychotherapist in the state of Connecticut.  I am a priest who is gifted in and practices pastoral counseling, spiritual direction and traditional soul care in the ancient tradition.  I am however a trained and certified spiritual director.

Ethical Considerations

Since we are members of Spiritual Directors International and the American Association of Christian Counselors we are bound to the ethical standards of these organizations.  And since Fr. Matt is a member of the clergy of the International Communion of the Charismatic Episcopal Church he is bound by the ethical guidelines of that church in order to maintain active ministry.
